"Lund builds the tension to a thunderous crescendo and shocking ending, sparking eager anticipation for the next in the series." - BookLife

Power is seductive; those who desire it most deserve it least. It permeates society - subtle and ruthless, and never without consequence.

London, 1763. As Britain emerges from war and the East India Company deepens its grip on global influence, Isabella Thornbury steps into the opulent world of London's high society for her first social season. What begins as a dance of suitors and soirees soon reveals darker layers of political corruption, secret societies, and a mysterious pocketbook that could unravel reputations.

As Isabella is drawn into an arena of power and deceit, she must choose between complicity and conscience. Will she preserve her place in society, or risk everything to expose the truth?

Blending the wit of Jane Austen, the philosophical depth and political intrigue of Wolf Hall, with the brooding romance and pursuit of justice of Poldark, this atmospheric debut explores the cost of standing up for what is right in a world built on appearances. It blends literary intrigue, historical suspense, and emotional growth into a coming-of-age tale that resonates across time.

Reader Promise: Consequence of Power: Isabella's Season promises a richly immersive reading experience where history, romance, and moral reckoning converge. Expect a slow-burn exploration of character, conscience, and the seductive pull of power, with moments of heartbreak, humour, and hope. Ideal for historical fiction fans, lovers of literary dramas and those who savour elegant prose, layered themes, and atmospheric storytelling.

For fans of: Hilary Mantel, Jessie Burton, Sarah Waters, Winston Graham, and Philippa Gregory.
